News Release: Honey Bees are Helped by their Friends

January 7, 2009 by David Baillie

David Baillie, has a blog which inspires you to talk to everything, your pets, insects in your house, visiting animals, and plants and teaches you how to hear the answers too at: http://harmonyforest.wordpress.com.

David says “his partner Lorraine looks after honey bees and talks to them so often he often doesn’t know she is talking to him”. Wanting the same attention he says he “Often wishes it was him, because she says so many nice things to honey bees, takes them inside, warms them up, gives them honey, keeps them overnight if its cold, until the weather warms up”.   He loves to write about her stories looking after bees and other animals, and his own, so others can learn how to do it too, at http://harmonyforest.wordpress.com.

If your neighbours are a little distance away, you can endear yourself to the little honeys by leaving urine out for them. They love it, and though a few days may go by when they are busy harvesting special nectars and pollens, they love collecting it. Leave it in a sunny spot though as they drown in it if they get cold.  David and Lorraine sprinkle it on wood shavings so that they don’t caught up in the liquid.

Lorraine says “If you find a bee on bitumen or concrete it is often dehydrated”. She gives them water from her drink bottle or places them on a flower for the nectar.  You can find more tips to understanding wild insects and animals at David’s Blog: http://harmonyforest.wordpress.com.

Sometimes the bees fly around Lorraine as if to say thankyou. Lorraine says she likes them fluffing up her aura. David says that though they do that for him too sometimes he is more interested in being a bloke, and getting on with things.

The both pick up worm off the pavement too, and tell flys and bees where the open door or window is so they can fly on out.  Just some of the many ways of communicating with animals that you learn at: http://harmonyforest.wordpress.com.
